Tt Season starts in a month or so, who’s competing and what’s your bike for the season ahead.

Here’s my giant trinity, tricked out with pretty much every watt saving advantage I can find. Fancy pants extensions, ceramic speed pulley wheel, waxed chain (in gold which is the fastest colour obviously), speedplay aero pedals…

It’s an absolute weapon.

Unfortunately the engine is me, and I’m useless. Should still get me a 21 on a non dual carriageway course though..

That’s not niche. That’s mainstream in TT land. This is niche... I’ll see if I get some fitness by the end of the season to race it.

Fastest barrow in the UK having recoded a 19 min 10 (Adam Duggleby - not me!). Has Ultegra 10 speed Di2 and THREE, count’em three HED 3 wheels. Also USE base bars and of course the aero TriRig front brake (not cheap!). It has a second front brake behind the fork too. In its first outing under me, it managed 232 miles in a 12hr.

My other TT bike is a steel Shorter Leo Road Club former team bike made by the legendary Barry Chick, with SRAM eTAP, but that's moved over to a Propel set up for TT now.

BTW I also now have Speedplay Aero pedals for extra speed gains. the trike has a crank powermeter instead.

I don't have a time trial bike but I love everything on this thread.

I need that trike. All 3 of mine are knackered.
Whats at the back end sprocket wise? Something of Geoffs?

I passed a TT champs on a nearby road a while back, and saw a tandem TT bike for the first time, had no idea such a thing existed. But like p0rn, if there's a weird cycling niche you can imagine, someone is doing it

It's a lot older than than that. Higgins lightweight single wheel drive. Running an 11-25 10-speed ultegra sprocket set. Bolted on with a big bolt! Did you spot the downtube wiring? And the chainstay? Battery is secured to the seat post with a Topeak bottle adaptor in reverse. It's a neat solution and I don't run a FD. Have a bigger front chainring now, but I may struggle to turn it over.

Shifting electronically in a TT is the only way. It is fabulous!

There is a tandem TRIKE category if two wheels isn't niche enough. Needless to say there aren't many, but there are some. Tandems in TT's are not that uncommon, the Mighty Adam D is the captain for a para-Olympian. He borrowed my trike from its previous owner for a week and it almost killed him in a ditch. He did take the 10 mile tricycle record. I bought it for the 12h record (259 miles), but COVID has put paid to that thus far.

That trike is indeed very niche! Love the use bars, I had some r1’s with a Tririg caliper on my last bike and combined they offered only the slightest hint of stopping power…

But it’s a tt bike, so who needs brakes right?

Got any pics of that 10 speed cassette set up and the big bolt? A bit of home alteration always appeals.
Just be quoted £450 quide for Brookers axles and hubs. Probably good value but on my heap of junk!

Here’s mine, a Cannondale slice. Getting quite long in the tooth (this’ll be my 6th season on it) and I’d imagine about as areo as a brick compared to the new stuff that’s around nowadays but I just can’t afford a new TT bike. It’s served me well though, finishing in the top 5 five in the last 3yrs of the 12hr National championships

Shifting in a TT? Quaint. Retired now, but once upon a time...
