Ha that is my video. Glad you liked it. I posted it here a few days ago http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/video-island-singletrack

There are some great bits of trail on the island but I'm not going to claim its a riding mecca. Most routes are linked by some fairly mundane sections. Most of the riding is in the forests around Brodick, Lamlash and Whiting Bay. There are some nice big hills to the North but they are not very mountain bike friendly for the most part. The bits in the bigger hills that are ridable will normally involve a decent amount of pushing. What you do get though is a great experience. Even a day trip feels a bit like a holiday when you add in the ferry. It certainly feels like a long way from the central belt.

Arran bike club used to publish some routes but they seem to have disappeared from the website. Hopefully they will be back soon. Strava stalking is probably the best way of figuring routes out for now.

You should be getting paid by the Arran tourist board. It's a lovely film and I liked the soundtrack as well.

There is some brilliant singletrack on the Clauchland hills just south of Brodick, some good singletrack in the forest between Lamlash and Whiting Bay

Here is a copy of the route:

Some dull sections of road and fireroad but a nice day out on the bike, especially if you get the weather

Easy offroad (*easy in tech terms - there are hills), check out Kildonan off road bit (forestry track and easy single) This starts about 1k E before Kilmory off main rd (Neish up to Auchareoch) and round to Whiting Bay/Giants Grave/Glenashdale falls(an ace place for a coffee/sarnie). From here you can go to S end of Lamlash(fab views over bay when above trees) via forestry track OR (*this bit generally not on maps - but it is there) loop round the to the SE of the island (obvious forestry track above Giants Grave), forestry and the end is newly laid singleish but easy to main road above Kildonan(amazing views over Pladda and Ailsa Craig). Round island is also a good road cycle (with quite big/long hills in places). (We did loop to Upper K, have done Lamlash/Whiting Bay and back via Whiting - Kings Cross shore/hill trail - techie/difficult nav) and to main via fish farm road, drop down off rd to Cordon )

Top Tip - for a new experience - have a beer at the Kildonan hotel whilst looking out to sea, from there you will see the best dyke swarm in Europe !!!!!(we earwigged a geology tour)

The lower end of Glen Rosa(Brodick Bay) is LOVELY (views and cart track initially)and further up is **possibly** is nice single (we started on on S of burn - people were walking N of burn and it ??looks?? loopable??? **I think - ie - does anybody know for sure ??) - I turned back as it was getting too techie for gf)

Behind Brodick Castle marked tracks - steep/no views/trees - not entirely recommended.

Clauchlands - what a fab trail

If you do the one behind Lamlash up to stone circle(and I certainly wont be doing it up again.....) - DO IT DOWN to Lamlash - its like Annapurna but a lot more mud/undergrowth/cross roots/ticks/midges/cleggs the forestry track at the top after that to Brodick (up to Gleann Dubh and back) is fine - in fact the back bit back was truly memorable(*and depressingly short)

Also midges and ticks were bad when we were there - longs suggested.

North side of the Glen Rosa is doable. It starts off slow and techy but mellows out further along into nice singletrack (Its in the first bit of the video). They've sanitised/improved part of the path recently. Upper Glen Rosa is ridable as a there and back but I remember it being a pain. The singletrack was quite rutted so you catch your pedals a lot and there were some tricky burn crossings. My prefered route in that area takes in a bit of all sorts. Makes a pleasant change from the clauchlands.

Arran is ace. There's some brilliant ST on the Descent into Brodick from the south. Only problem is it's a tad mundane to get to it-Auchrannie hotel start then into forestry roads for the best part.
