The Witchery Restaurant on the royal mile is fantastic if you can get a table (theres a nice malmaison hotel at the docs if thats boutique enough?)

Hmmmm, the inside is amazing but got to say I don't know anyone who's been inspired by the food.

The only boutique hotel I've stayed in and can recommend is the Norton House Hotel, however it's not really in the city... I've heard the Apex Hotel is good, but no idea how trendy it is sorry!

Food at the Witchery was superb when I went, but maybe I was lucky! [s]or have low standards[/s] (which I don't)

I stayed at the point hotel a few years back. Seemed alright.

Thought this was about hotels? Anyway I'd agree the Witchery is overrated, the Tower Restaurant is much better.

Not strictly a boutique, as it's part of the Eton Collection (which I suppose is a small chain of luxury boutique hotels, so maybe it is), but I was impressed by the Glasshouse. Stylish, good location (right next to the Playhouse), not too expensive. It even has an honesty bar. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I was impressed by the Bonham.

One of the rooms won new hotel room of the year a few years back and has a big bay window with one of the best views in town. Have asked for it specifically on a couple of special occasions (parents 60th etc) and they have always been happy to make it available.

The Glasshouse(?)

Top of leith walk, great location and pretty special rooms if you are willing to pay for some of the better rooms... Technically maybe not Boutique

I was going to suggest the Glasshouse as it does look nice, but then I remembered that it is right next to Mood and the Omni Centre. Not so bad if it's during the week, but the place is horrendous on Friday and Saturday nights ๐Ÿ™

Very, very nice B&B rather than a hotel : 23 Mayfield

Ross, the owner, is a top bloke.

Admittedly about 9 years since I was last there but when I was up in Edinburgh a reasonable amount I always like the Point - they were very accommodating in letting me keep my bike there too so I could get out riding in the evenings.
