Ok im after making another bike stand. One for the garage and one for washing the bike. Yes there are some simple designs but so far they all appear to be a bit wobbly for washing unless they are massive and look ungainly.

Im looking at making a rack to take just one bike (29er + rubber) what do you like / have you seen that i could use for a little inspiration.

Id like it to hold the wheels if possible i think. (crank stands have been ok but just ok nothing exceptional)

I use a Superstand. It's good.

I just knocked one up for washing the bike at the top of the garden. Four pieces of wood two wide enough on the floor so the bike dosent fall and two side by side to take the tyre.

My garage one is wall mounted, again a bit of messing about, allows me to have a park tools wall mounted one attached to a TV wall bracket so it folds out of the way when not in use

Alongside my proper workshop stand, I have one of these from Decathlon...
Simple bike stand
...it's fine once you adjust it to fit your particular frame.
I use it with my 29+.

More than stable enough for washing a bike (unless your using a full power jet wash!)

I just use a hook poking the top of a ~2m fence post to hang the bike (29er) front wheel up in the Garden for hosing down/drip drying.

The main advantages being that it's cheap and simple, you can get round and access most of the bike and don't need to bend down to access most of it you can spin the cranks fully for cleaing the drivetrain, and water/crap runs down and off the back end rather than collecting at the BB/under the downtube... It's not perfect, but does the job, and TBH I don't tend ot clean my bikes all that often...
29+ would probably need a taller post and a bigger hook though.

My other choice for cleaing a bike outside would be a simple ~1.5m high A-frame to just hook the nose of the saddle over and lift the back wheel off the ground, as it also lets you get in around the whole bike and turn the drivetrain/back wheel.

tbh that hook idea seems really good!
