Haldons the closest then - although i've not been in a year or two so cant comment on the current state of the trails. There used to be some good natural stuff on the south side and more man made trails on the north side.

There r many local bridleways
from the ogwell area out tward
totness/ashburton some surpisingly
good, especially in dry conditions.
Also out toward rocombe/stokeinteign
-head quite gnarly in places, as always
an o/s map and a day exploring is best.
Bovey tracey is 10 mins away by car,
then you have lustliegh cleave etc from
there.
Tis great down yer!

Decoy? behave! wrong sort of trails my friend.

There's a lot of natural stuff at Haldon forest to be found, some of it loops along with the blue run, some with the red and loads is miles away.

Lustleigh cleave is a fun place to play and the mbr dartmoor killer loop are pretty good starting points as is this killer loop;

http://www.embc.uk.net/routes/killer_loop_dartmoor.html is ok

the nutcracker decent is rather amusing.

Not sure if you can still get to it or not but on the outskirts of Buckfastleigh is a woods called Kingswood - there used to be a DH series run there - but as a local we found loads of nice singletrack in there.

Kingswood Buckfastleigh you say!
I take my dog for a walk in there 2 or 3 times a week, have been jogging in there and generally having a good look around for a year or so now. Unfortunately I can not find anything that resembles decent singletrack. All forested by Fountains now.....could do with a hand to build some cheeky trails in there though!

If I still lived in Buckers I would! Left about 7 years ago...

Is the fire track still there going right down the middle? From the top gate there was a nice bit that snaked down on the right hand side - that was the start of the DH course that On-A-Bike ran...

Some nice little loops available from Ogwell, best done in the dry.
Work your way across to Totnes Bridgetown then Staverton and back via Denbury and Broadhempston. A cracking 30K loop. Also a couple of hours amusement to be had by Dropping down from Ogwell into Chercombe valley woods from the green.

philstone - That little bit of singletrack that snakes down beside the fireroad from the top gate that you talk about is still there, I reckon the horse riders have sort of kept it clear. But it comes to an end at the 1st left on the fireroad. Where did it used to go from there? If there used to be a route leading away from that, it shouldn't be too hard to make it useable again?!

Can't remember - it was about 12 years or so the last time I went in there.

Hoping to come over sometime soon though (in-laws still in Paignton) so will get over and see if I can find it again.
