Just stripped down my first pair of Bombers, the oil was a pretty grim and grey. No idea when they had last been serviced, if ever.

Is there any way of knowing if they need new seals?
The stanchions had been clean and seemed to hold pressure before I stripped 'em.

Cheers,
JT

I could be wrong (often am), but I think if you've remove the stanchions from the lower, then new seals are automatically recommended. And if you think about, you've got this far, so you might as well.

If they were holding air beforehand than the seals are still good.
Bomber seals are famous for their longevity.
Signs of wear would be loss of pressure or oil residue around the seals prior to stripping down.

Its really your call whether you change them or not. Afaik - bombers are a pretty straightforward fork to service.
