Long story of woe: 2nd bike stolen 8 months after making replacement, inadequately insured but some payout thankfully.
New replacement frame arrived with 73mm threaded BB shell. I'm assuming my old Hope BB will fit this. So first question is this:
Would I need a (GXP Chainset) eg
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=55192
or this (a BB30 chainset) eg
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=55193
and what is the difference? Do I need a converter if I'm using Truvativ rather than shimano crankset.
Secondly, in trying to get this build sorted I've noticed there seems to be a real push towards 2x10. Is it just hype, is it worth doing, or are weight savings worth it? Real world experience appreciated.
Cheers
Mike
Hope's HT11 BB should fit the frame with one spacer on the drive side, if you want to use a GXP crank instead of Shimano/RF then you'll also need the step-down GXP spacers from Hope, fit them to the non drive side bearing before you fit it in the frame.BB30 is yet another standard, uses a larger axle, so isn't compatible.
That's kind of what i thought but wasn't 100% sure. Thanks for that.
