Nice new shiny mech...completely bent cage in glancing blow on a big rock.
Anyone else do this on their first ride...and can it be fixed?
Checked the hanger etc but its defo the mech. Very gutted ๐
Is there such a thing as an indestructible mech?
If the parallelogram is bent then, it's basically pure luck because you're as likely to bend a straight bit as to straighten a bent bit. But with cages, you can get it in bits and work on each plate at a time, makes things much easier.
For XT, check out the One Up website, it's got a nice video of how to remove the cage.
Current XT mech is a pretty durable thing- not up to Saint levels but the toughest "normal" mech I've ever used.

Yes, it's the one you don't hit on rocks ๐
Did it once to a manitou ht frame. They didn't have replaceable hangers. ๐
Indestructible mech - hub gears / gearbox?
It would be nice if vulnerable flappy mechs could be done away with
