So I ripped the xt mech off my Cotic soul with the help of a branch!! So I purchased a 10 speed clutch mech as a direct replacement. However when fitting the new mech, with the screw that lifts the mech clear of the frame and cassete all the way in I am still not clear of the cassette. I have never had this before. I noticed you can remove a small washer/spacer but I didn't on the last one and screw was only about halfway in.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong. Probably best going for a new chain aswell now.
Bent mech hanger?
Very simply you have fitted it wrong. Unbolt and then refit ensuring the black tab is against the stop on the hangar per the pic I just took below.

Looked at it again and I did just fasten it up wrong!!! That's what you get for rushing it in the garden with 3 kids pestering you.
