hi lads

just curious I was toying with the idea of getting new model trance a couple of weeks ago.

I always look to see how much spares are before I buy a bike especially buying second hand.

I looked up to see how much the rear shocks are but it doesn’t even seem like you can buy one from the usual shops.

I know giant would supply one at a premium but can they be bought ?

Mice decided to just keep my current bike now but just curious for future reference 😀

Pretty sure you should be able to use any trunnion metric shock of the correct length? No need to buy from Giant.

Quick Google shows it's likely 185 x 52.5. Plenty of options and people have put 185 x 55 on them apparently to increase the rear travel.

The stock shock is indeed 185x52.5 giving 140 rear travel. Apparently its just internally reduced with a spacer. Plenty of people on pinkbike forums report running a 185x55mm for ~160 rear travel. You'd probably want to up the fork from 150 then though and at that point why not buy a reign?

2017 trance owner. This is how I've talked myself out of spending the money.

Cheers lads.   I seen the 185 55 shocks.  I suppose in a couple of years when everything is trunnion mount they will be more commonplace and cheaper.
