Need a new helmet, my large 7 M2 is a bit small. Considered the Giro Montaro but I see everywhere that the pads fall apart. So thinking about the Bell Super 3? Not sure I want to spend all the way up to the mips version but the regular version goes for £95 which is at the upper end of what I want to spend. Might grab a Giro Savant mips for roadbike.

I got a bell super 3 as a self bought christmas present and I love it. Coming from a 5 year old and worn out giro hex the difference is extremely noticeable! It's a lot more secure on my head, helped by the now more popular wrap around design.

My main concern was it getting too hot and it's not been an issue due to the large number of vents.

I've got a Super 2r and it looks very big on my head with no chinguard - but then I have a bit of an odd head. Try one first.

Oh and I'm normally a large, but had to change for a medium. Mine is MIPS though

I have one of the problematic Montaro's. Just got, from Wiggle, a POC Tectal and have a Specialized Ambush on the way. The Tectal fits well and may be kept.

The Montaro is on it's 4th set of pads and will be heading for a refund at Evans once/when the pads go, though strangely, this set are good as new after a few rides and rinses, so maybe they actually have sorted the issue...

The Montaro fits me the best of all I have tried, which has been many !

Cheers. Will try the Montaro tomorrow for fit, but the pad issue puts me off. May also get over to Dales in Glasgow to try the Bell. Nowhere local has the POC or Ambush to try. I think the Kask might be too bowl-shaped for my odd head. Long and narrow works better.

Went into Dales. Tried on a Super 3 Large (no mips) and it was a great fit. Really comfy. Tried the Super 2 and it was too tight, definitely a Smaller size than the 3. Also tried an Ambush which was was way too tight, didn't fit over my head - not sure if they do a larger size than L, but regardless I like the Super 3 so will probably go with that.
