Just built me up a SC Superlight for riding my local trails. ๐ Well chuffed with it so far, and looking forward to putting some miles on it.
I had a rigid Surly karate monkey previously, and although I loved it for slow technical stuff and cruising along fire paths, it was shaking my wrists to bits on our local faster, rocky trails. (and a "slight" nose dive of a jump slammed the front down so hard I lost grip on the bars and had a nasty off!)
Thinking of 1x10 + hope t-rex for the next upgrade, depending on how I get on with 1x9 on our local hilly trails. (I'm running an 11-34 XT cassette and a 30t chainring, which works well with the 29er wheels).
Could do with a wider bar and shorter stem for downhill fun, but I like to have the best mix of distance comfort, climbing and decending, and the current set up works ok for me. ๐
Saddle looks like an odd angle but like that allot. Is that a NW 30t chain ring?
Welcome aboard!
What shock are you running and what fork travel?
Ps your mystery creak will be your pivot needing tightening.
It's a Hope ring, a narrow-wide jobbie. Works really well.
Yea, I put the post in backwards ๐ณ and that's as low as the nose would go.... I was all ready to slate the crappy Crankbros post until I realised it was backwards and felt rather stupid! ๐ณ ๐ณ Sorted now though.
Better Photo (although the saddle is still at a silly angle) -

Thanks.
It's the standard float CTD shock, the forks are REBA soloair, 120mm.
The front is a tad higher than on the Surly, and feels a bit skittish. Going to drop the stem to the bottom and see if it's any better. otherwise, I think it's just a case of getting use to a bike with suspension again....
