Go see your Doctor. Mine is under reasonable control with tablets(once daily) and a nasal spray.

Citerizin (sp?) tablets and cortisone spray. Everyone's different. Go see a doctor, but be prepared to go through some trial and error first.

I find loratidine fairly ineffective but cetirizine works well - all depends on what works for you. I used to have a terrible late summer allergy to something and the pills from the quack worked but knocked me out for half a day the first time I took them.

Ah, my specialist subject!

For OTC stuff, Loratadine is ok but fairly mild though non-sedating. Cetirizine is stronger but spaced me out. Chlorphenamine works but is one of the 1st generation antihistamines so much more likely to have a sedative effect. Acrivastine is still under patent so branded (Benadryl) only, though it works but only lasts 8hrs or so. Fluticasone nasal spray is pretty good in conjunction with any of the above. Take a decongestant with caffeine as well if it gets bad.

Only Rx one I've used is fexofenadine and it's properly good - just come back from Romania where it's OTC and cheap so stocked up!

Apparently acupuncture can work but it depends whether you believe in it or not..

Everyone's different, but I find cheap antallergy tablets generally do nowt for me - Benadryl works best for me.

I first got it when I was 21 (42 now) and it was pure evil - nose like a tap pouring acid down my face, sneezing constantly for hours, could have fetched my itchy eyes out with a screwdriver, tonsils itching, welts if I even looked at a blade of grass.

Fortunately, each year since then, it has subsided a little, to the point where it's just a minor annoyance a few days a year now.

I started getting at a similar age, started mildly but it got so bad over a few years that I went to the Docs.

The OTC pills didn't work for me or made me really drowsy. The Dr gave me Fexofenadine pills and a nasal spray, this has sorted me out.

Go see your GP

Got a tip from the girls in Boots, they do a pack of 30 tablets for £1.80 but you have to ask the pharmacist for them.

Daylight robbery when you think of the price of Benadryl et al.
