Hi,

I want to get a decent and cheap bmx to beat around, if possible?

My budget is about £160 but cheaper is better (again if possible). If I need to spend more to get something decent then I will keep saving.

I'm a 6' male so, from some research, I believe the tt needs to be over 20.5" for a comfy ride.

I've got a few picks here to look through:

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/45358/Stolen_Heist_2012_BMX_Bike

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/44549/Felt_Base_205Inch_2012_BMX_Bike

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/43488/GT_Air_2012_BMX_Bike

http://www.winstanleysbmx.com/product/43625/DiamondBack_Venom_2012_BMX_Bike

Some of these don't seem to mention the tt size so perhaps you could help (I did look on manufacturers site too but I'm either failing to see it or I'm "stoopid")

I'm happy to buy used if need be. I'm in Canterbury, Kent if anyone local is selling but I've already scoured eBay to no avail.

I like the look of the 24" too but there is zero in this price range from what I can see.

However, I believe the 20" will help my balance and reactions when I get back to MTB (MTB was recently stolen)

Thanks,
Sam

@watsontony do you mind me asking what makes these brands ones to avoid? Is the build quality bad?

@Ringo thanks for the link. the finish looks great on that bike.

The Stolen Heist is what I would buy, I noticed that a few months ago on Winstanley, it's a good buy for £160. The Score is decent at £200 too with the sealed hubs.
The Diamond back has full chromo frame for £99 sounds good but I don't know much about that one

I picked up a mint WTP Trust 2011 for £180 on ebay. Good value as these are £600 new.

I got a secondhand one of these: http://www.evanscycles.com/products/mongoose/logo-2013-bmx-bike-ec042158

Cost £85. Seems to work, despite being a 20.25" frame and me 5'10.5". I guess when you spend more money they get stronger and/or lighter - what else can you change about a BMX? They're not exactly complicated!

@skids the heist was what I was eyeing up the most. nice frame with decent looking spec at 160 seems like a steal. winstanley appear to be very fairly priced.

@donks good find. I'm struggling to find anything. all I see is people selling Apollo bmx for 80+ ... like WTF?
