Setup tips.

Set the sag correctly.

Don't dial in too much damping. I started with three clicks to low and high. Backed off to two clicks within the first 10 mins of riding. Will be trying one click on the next ride.

The guys at Cotic suggest running slight higher pressure in the lower chamber vs the top. An experiment I have yet to try.

I would hope so pete, I would hope so! Great to hear it was worth the money too. Bar the funky stackospacers 😉 it looks brilliant. But I guess I might be slightly biased....

yeah, I had a telephone conversation about the merits of the Helm over the XFusion and came away with the conclusion that if I wanted rid of the high speed chatter I needed the HELMs... 🤪

cy was saying I’d need to run ~10psi higher in the negative to sort it out... should get the forks Friday (not sure when I’ll get them fitted). I’ll try with minimal damping from the off then (funnily enough it’s how the McQueens ended up too).

So.  Ti Cranks.  Addition of pedals.  Cold welding anyone?

Do you just use normal grease, or some Ti Prep?   What about the dropper?

Edit: Would AAS Juice do the trick?

Just use copper grease/slip

As a long time lover of all things titanium, Molybdenum Grease is your friend. A thin coat on anything that might lead to galvanic corrosion (particularly ti-on-ti) and it stays put and resists most things. A bit of a mess to apply (don't get it near anything non-metallic), but the best thing I have found.

I use it on all threaded metal-on-metal interfaces when building bikes (basically anything with a thread, including taking out existing bolts and applying it). Means that you can reach the right torque without encountering friction resistance and means less rounded bolts, stripped threads and seized components in the long run. Did I mention it's a bit messy to apply?!

I can see my house….

and that, my friend, is why you need curtains.... 😉

I still wish your steel one was green….

Yeah, its still dark metal I'm afraid (and having somewhere to move it on to was a necessary part of going Soda... Sorry!

That is nice.

My bank balance is less so though 🙂 Its a pretty solid build (Hope wheels/headset/stem, XT trans, SLX brakes and a Manic dropper) mostly transferred from dark metal.

I finally got it built up yesterday and today I managed a whole 9 miles on it (my usual local 'lap'). I forgot to take any water, I'd raised the stem 5mm from the Solaris and I could feel my back start to grumble and 20% sag seems a bit 'harsh' (resetting the sag at the trailside was never going to be easy...). The fact it had started hosing it down just as I was back at the car park had absolutely nothing to do with it. Obviously...

I was well impressed with it though. I've done the lap a lot recently and its probably the trail I know best up here and its got a decent mix of ups, downs and twisty flats. The back end is a lot more 'lively' (and skitters about, but in a good way) and it felt a lot faster (new bike syndrome no doubt!).The HELMs feel a definite improvement on the McQueens. They track better and as people say, when pushed they get even better, I was finding the front wheel starting to break in places which means, that for me, I was pushing it.

Imagine, if you will, two sisters. One is sensible, demure, hides her talents under a bushel as it were. You know she'll never let you down. The other is a show off, a bit of a tease, always demanding attention, flighty and flashy. You just know she's going to break your heart. That. 🙂

I can see it pushing my riding on. And I think I'm going to like it...

Mine was absolutely wicked round Brenin this weekend.  Climbs like a demon and I was outpacing my mates on full sussers on the downs.

Running a WT minion dhf 2.6 on the front and dhr2 on the back - didn't have the balls to find the limit of grip. And the helm fork is sweet - no trail chatter, plush as you like.

Not sure I'm good enough to warrant the eeWings cranks, but then it IS very shiny 😉

Was too busy riding than taking bike pron.  Next weekend. But you can pretty much take a look at their promo shots at ladybower for all my lack of originality.

Running it 29er like my old (nicked) Solaris. Gonna be a string of sleepless nights if I ever go bikepacking with it 😉
