I seem to remember from that mahoosive thread about the XT brakes from Rose Bikes that you need a different olive and insert for the new XT and SLX disc brakes to swap the hoses over to the proper way. Anyone point me in the right direction? Can't see anything on CRC.

Ta!

i think its the same olive, but a different (silver rather than gold) insert because the hose is a smaller bore.

Olive and insert were both included in the box with my XTs from Rose

My XT's had the same (gold) olive and insert. I messed up one doing the switch over so had to go and buy another and a the standard Shimano one did the job.

Thanks. Just ordered some SLX brakes from Rose, so hopefully they'll have the right olive and insert included.

Rickos - just had some SLX666 from rose delivered last week. Comes with olive and silver insert. However I forgot to compare silver with gold insert in my toolbox.

nodrog - thanks, I did wonder what BH90 was. At least I know what to look for if I cock it up now.

And good to hear, Stoner.

Thanks!

Received my SLX brakes from Rose today (and only a coaster - do they not do the mugs any more?). As said above they include everything for shortening the hoses, which means they also include everything you need for just swapping them over.

You should be able to reuse the original barb, just cut it out of the shortened bit of the hose. But the olive will need replacement.
