[#1067447]

Just got my first "proper" pair of mtb shoes (stiff soles). They have the option to have two front studs but I'm not sure if i really need to fit them. The sole seems fairly well cut to cope with the mud 😕

So how many of you use studs on your shoes in the winter and why are they/not a good idea ?

I use them and can be helpful when you are clambering up muddy banks
Could I manage without them?-yes
Any downsides?-not that I've found......maybe you could save a few grams 🙂

Studs are good. YOu can't wear them with most overshoes though if you're into that. Your best bet is to get two sizes [long and short] from a sport hop that sells them individually. You'll find that on muddy banks in this weather they will be awesome and will provide the grip that n normal soles can cope with.
