I purchased an rd-m5100 and cs-m5100 from Chain Reaction and they didn't come in branded Shimano boxes.
Is that normal as they came loose in a bit of bubble wrap and I was expecting them to be boxed.
If you want boxed then CRC is not the place to buy from, some of the stuff from there is bought to build bikes and sold off cheaper than we can buy from Madison/Shimano directly
As above, fairly normal for CRC.
OEM - its well know that CRC etc do this.
I'm almost more surprised when it DOES come in a box 😂

Yeah, because at the moment there is loads of OEM being sold off to CRC and the like 😂
Due to parts shortages preventing bikes being completed, there’s a growing amount of OEM stuff being sold to big retailers.
If a bike can’t be built due to a lack of tyres/saddles/seatposts/whatever, the factory will claw some of it’s spend back by dumping other parts.
While Shimano shortages are often cited as the cause of bike delays/unavailability, they aren’t the only brand with shortages.
