[#10354670]

So it's time for me to get a new saddle. The SDG one that came with my Jeffsy is hard as a rock and my butt wants something nicer.

I'm gravitating towards either a WTB volt, or one of the cheaper Fabric saddles. I know saddle choice is very much personal preference and it's best to give them a go in the real world, but for anyone who's had experience with either of these two it would be great to get some info on them, good or bad!

Had a Fabric scoop on my mtb but after about a year it started creaking. It was ok comfort wise but I’ve now reverted back to an SDG Bel Air. Got them on both my mtbs and my road bike now.

If it makes any difference I don’t ever ride more than a max of 50k at a time on the mtb and around 40 miles on the road bike, so I can’t comment on long ride comfort.

WTB Volt.

Have the WTB Volt - in different versions - on several bikes. I normally pick the low budget version...

For me: great!

Of those 2, the volt without a doubt.

Awesome, thanks a lot guys. I was gravitating towards the volt anyway since it's been around for ages and seems tried and tested.

Just to redress the balance a bit, had a Fabric Scoop for ages now, done a couple of thousand miles on it with no creaks and no issues.

If you're leaning towards the volt then buy it

The Volt is indeed very comfortable.

As luck would have it, I have a Volt for sale. Came brand new off my Santa Cruz and I replaced it with a Fizik (just because I have them on multiple bikes).  CroMo rails. Equivalent to a Pro model. £20 posted unless you are near Guildford. Email me for pictures 7solarider7'at'gmail'dot'com

Got a WTB Volt on my Bronson and love it, worn out now after several years useage, would like to replace with the same but a slightly lighter version, the team version, it's been on my Christmas list for the last two years and it's never in flipping stock anywhere!!

I'm a devotee of the SDG Bel Air and have been since fish first crawled onto the land. But my new bike came with a WTB Volt and after a couple of rides it seems pretty comfy.

I was looking to get the Volt, but at the end I purchased the cheapest Specilazed Henge (the Sport model). Very comfy and still looks like new, despite almost 5000 km of use (including some longer rides, over 100 km).

Specialized Henge horrific, cuts you in half.

Fabric Scoop, comfy....mostly and very durable

WTB Volt, comfy......Mostly but not as durable as the scoop.

SDG Belair original super comfortable but fall apart easily and have horrendous creaking.

Choose your poison.

Have a Fabric Scoop Radius since April or May.

Most comfortable saddle ever for me, this including Brooks B17s and WTB Pures.

No creaks yet, even after some crashes including a failed doorway high huck to flat which I landed no feet, bum crashing into the saddle. If it resisted that then I'm positive about it's durability

I tend towards Charge Spoons (still!) or Bel Airs if buying.  I know it’s boring but my last creaky Spoon stopped creaking as soon as I stripped and properly cleaned the post head.  Costs nothing, worth a go.

As above, different people have differently shaped arses, what works really well for someone on the Internet may be a torture implement to you!
