Please recommend me some rotors to go with a set of Shimano XT M8000 brakes I'm looking at getting for a new build.
Stick with Shimano rotors? If so, which ones?

I like Hope floating rotors. A bit lighter, work fantastically well and most crucially they look good ๐Ÿ˜‰

There seems to be 2 different shimano ones, the RT 76 and the RT 86, what's the difference?

76 are solid steel on the braking surface, 86 have an alumnium core between two steel plates to reduce weight and aid heat transfer.

...and 86 cost more.

Go with the Ice tech. We have never had a problem with them.

I'm a big fan of kcnc rotors. Very light and a good price.

Ice Techs on both of my bikes with XT 785 brakes, did try Aztec floating type rotors on my hardtail but didn't like the feedback, we have Hope floating rotors on my lads full sus with SLX brakes and they work well just a bit fiddly to setup to avoid the rivets catching the caliper

I'm with Tracey .... based on loads of experience !
Just spend the money on Ice Tech rotors - proper braking power and NO "little niggles"

I've got a couple of cheap Superstar ones on the DH bike. Bought to replace a couple of ice-techs that melted in the Alps. The alloy part of the sandwich went soft and squeezed out. Fitted and forgotten about until now.
