[#3287042]

Im thinking about getting a new pair of road shoes but not too sure what to go for. Ive got some cheap ddb ones from wiggle at the moment but am considering something carbon soled. I have quite a broad foot so the likes of SIDI are out i think. Any suggestions? Im also considering second hand (though not mingin second hand) if anyone has anything. Suggest away...

Yeah i had some specialized MTB SPDs a few years back and they were a nice fit. The S-works boa fit would be niiiiice but the price tag hurts a little bit

Lake cx236c standard is fairly wide (as wide as I have found in cycling shoes), but also available in wide fittings, and the BOA system does a really good job of holding in the heel.

Yeah the specialized shoes (both road and mtb)fit a wide foot. The BOA laces on the top end models are a nice feature as well. Seem to be lasting for the moment..... 4 years on a pair of MTB shoes that see alot of hike-a-bike in the alps.

I would suggest Specialized as well but SIDI do do wide versions of their shoes.

depends on your feet..

shimano and sidi fit my feet nice whereas specialized are too fat height wise meaning that I can never tighten then up properly..

meaning that you should def look at Specialized!

Specialized S-works.

So good in fact that I now have the full set in Road, Mountain Bike and Podium shoes. 😀

Edit: I have wide feet too.

Another vote for Spesh S-works. they are ace.

You've got the podium shoes!?! you total gimp.

And another for s-works, if you shop around (especially once the 2012 ones start being stocked) you should be able to get a pair reduced (bought my 2010 ones from Evans start of this year for £120, they're a step up in comfort from my 08 ones to).

Sidi do the mega (wide fit) option so still worth bearing in mind, Mavic only seem slightly narrower then Spesh other than that I think Lake and Northwave are both supposed to be a comparatively wide fit but not tried them myself.

Northwave are great for fatter feet (like mine).

Save yourself some money and keep the DHB shoes. I've been delighted with mine, as they seem to fit my wideish feet very well. As with Shimano, you'll need a size larger than your "normal" shoes. Are you sure you've got the right size?

thanks for the replies folks. Looks like specialized is the general consensus. Im glad fold are recommending them as they have the added advantage if looking rather swish too. Keep the suggestions coming

i used to have shimano in a 45. when they eventually split, i bought a pair of S-works but found i needed a 44. i don't have wide feet and find in the right size the spesh were fine.

I normally recommend customers in the shop who have wide feet to go for specialized shoes, as its what we commonly stock that would suit but Sidi also do a wide fit version as do Shimano (E-fit)

😳 😳 😳
Instinct buy. I think they're ace though.

Sadly I will never be able to wear them for their intended purpose.

Gaerne carbon - great for racing. DHb cheapos are good for commuting etc but no where near as good for racing. Other pointless advice get ones which fit best so try on as many makes as possible and use "race" socks when trying them on, don't know where you live but geofrey Butlers have a good stock of different brands

Have a look at the Gaerne range, CRC have lots of good deals on em, excellent shoes, hand made in italy, so so comfortably, noticeably better than my shimano shoes.
