Anyone using one?

Considering getting rid of my car and get something far more practical for biking.

Been eying up the Vauxhall version as well. I already have a 08 plate vivaro which I have run from new and it's been great. I went for the factory doublecab then but I might consider the combo with removable seats for extra flexibility this time as it's my only vehicle.

Have driven a few new ones (I work for Vauxhall main dealer) and the 1.6 twin turbo seemed as powerful as my current 2.0 cdti perhaps not quite as low down grunty.

Yes the Vauxhall was the other option.

I assume the bulkhead keeps the noise down a bit?

Just be nice to have space and when weather really rubbish somewhere to get changed, an A4 estate really doesn't cut it, I ride all year round and there really isn't any space one the bike is in and I hate roof racks!

Had a Vivaro LWB for 9 years great van it was a 04 the problem i find with the new ones they are much shorter in height and feel heavier to drive than the old ones have driven a few at work if you want a slightly smaller van look at the Ford transit experts they are lush to drive.I wanted a bigger van in height and width so got a Citroen Relay great van for what i wanted it for.

We have a 13 plate Vivaro LWB doublecab (factory). We bought it from new to replace an estate car - similar reasons we didn't want to carry on sticking bikes on the tow bar and useful for lots more when racing (unfortunately not done much racing since we got it due to work).

We really like it. It doesn't feel too different to driving a car apart from we're higher up. We do have to put a bit more thought in when needing to park up somewhere but that's it - underground/multistoreys are pretty much out.

BTW - not sure what availability is like at the moment, but if you have any specific requirements lead time on ours was quite long. For some reason LWB doublecab Vivaros weren't stocked. We ordered ours in December it got delivered in March. We did ask for parking sensors and a tailgate so that might have had something to do with it. We also got bumped down Vauxhall's supply list as apparently Sky and Royal Mail put in big Vivaro orders.

We ordered from http://www.harpendenvans.com/ They are supposed to supply trade only and partner with a Vauxhall dealer in Knebworth.

I'd definitely prefer a tailgate as opposed to barn doors but hardly a deal breaker. Was riding with a guy the other night who turns out deals in commercial vehicles so hopefully I can get a bit of discount too ๐Ÿ™‚

I've had a Vivaro (same van as Traffic) for the last 5-6 years, it'd had a hard life before I get it and died (at 220000 miles) a few weeks ago (fan belt broke and knackered the cam/timing). I was looking at the new Vivaro but was put off by the small 1600 engine, I know it's turbo'd so similar power to the old one but I'm not sure of the longevity of all these modern vehicles with small engines compared to a decent sized one. In the end I've just bought a Transit Custom, 2.2 Diesel engine and slightly more space inside (and I mean slightly)

That said you can pick up new Vivaros pretty cheap at the moment.

Can't vouch for the Renault but we bought a LWB 64 vivaro, top model, twin turbo, all the gizmos- and it's been a dog.
Rear doors both took themselves off the catches that you're supposed to release on a windy day, folded themselves right round the van. All new doors, hinges, lights rear bumper required.
Body Control Module that controls all electrics then decided to sh*t itself so that was it off the road for 8 days- yes 8 days before they figured out what was wrong with it. Not funny when it's a working van that's needed every day and no courtesy vehicle offered , not that impressed with Vauxhall service to be honest. Also the radio/phone/ Bluetooth regularly gets itself upset and won't play ball until you do full reset.I would say if you're keen on one make it a new one, you're probably going to need the warranty period to sort it out,
Lovely van to drive when it works and acres of space but don't think we'll have another, all our other vans are citroens, not very fashionable but they just work and don't give any trouble at all ๐Ÿ™‚

I got pre-registered Trafic from Evans Halshaw. Saved loads, only 10 miles on clock. No problems in year I've had it. It a SWB business plus so not base model or base engine but one step up on both - nothing flash. Replaced an old shape LWB. I have no problems parking in average supermarket space, no bigger than a big 4x4.

The new van runs fine, is comfortable enough, quiet enough. Drives better than old van but then old van had 150k on the clock.

Work very kindly bought me a 140 sport LWB crew cab, It's fantastic.

If only being used for bikes you'd get away with the SWB, looked a the vauxhall too. Renault was higher spec, Sat Nav etc.. and about a grand cheaper.

I test drove one a few weeks ago and thought they were nice to drive. I'm not sure about the longevity of small engines with extra turbos for hauling heavy loads such as if you're a builder, tradesman or towing. But if it's for biking and leisure then I'm sure it'll be fine as we don't really load them up with heavy stuff all the time.
In the end I went for a Transit Custom, it's a 2.2TDCI and is a little bigger (and we're k my talking inches) than my old Vivaro. They're the same power as the 1.6biturbo Renaults/Vauxhalls but they don't need to be tuned up as much to get there.
