Right... I popped over to Evans and bought myself a Canis 2.0 dual compound jobby for the rear of my xc bike.
Upon fitting the tyre it's considerably narrower than the 2" wide Specialized job I've got up front and with a much lower profile than the Captain it replaced the bike feels very slack. The tread is absolutely minimal so it remains to be seen how long it's going to last.
Within five minutes of setting out I had a rear puncture - whilst cycling on tarmac - the tread is that minimal. Braking grip seems okay though, there's no sudden loss of traction or skipping to report.
