[Closed] New MTB advice

So i am currently running about on a 2008 Marin Palisades Trail which I have loved up to the part where i had to lift it up. Im looking to sell this bike and upgrade to something that would be classed as an all rounder. I want it to be good for racing around single tracks in the forests, going uphill(although that might be my legs that are the issue) with the possible option of doing a bit of downhill although it is a small requirement.

Of course the budget - up to a £1000 I think as i tend to road cycle over the spring & summer months.

There is just so much choice but I'm not sure what would be a great light!! all rounder.
