Will pop it on tonight anyway as old one scuffed up and can become a spare

Wasn't the thin walled collar prone to damage on the old ones ?

My collar bent and the corner eventually snapped off to leave a sharp ragged mess that you have to try and get purchase on with he lever. Pretty poor.

cbmotorsport yes, I've seen a few like that, so I guess that the reason. New one looks much better thought out.

well, having installed it last night, it certainly is easier/sturdier than the old version, so thats an improvement !

I had one replaced because of that under warranty - thought I must have been a bit too forceful with it - the replacement has started to go now as well - didn't realize this was a common issue - I may see if I can get one of the new ones

Never had that problem myself but good to know that the new version is backwards compatible - as last year I did travel 200 miles for a long weekend of riding to find I'd left my maxle at home ๐Ÿ˜ณ

They're not cheap either and fortunately Apline bikes had one in stock ๐Ÿ˜€
