What's current flavour of the month at the value end of the scale?

Currently got XT, but have been looking at the likes of Deore, Token or Uberbike

If you're BSA, Ultegra/105 is only a tenner.

Is that a straight swap for BB70?

My brother has one in his spares box that he was going to let me have, but it looked smaller - maybe optical illusion

No; misunderstood your requirement. Apologies!

£16 at Merlin. I consider them consumables.

My hope stainless has outlasted several shimano xt bb's for me. I've had two deore units both last for a single ride!

I just got a £16 XT from CRC and that looks like great value to me.

Had a Deore in the past that I managed to trash whilst trying to install it so avoid IMO.

Will be going Hope when the one on my main bikes goes pop.

Gusset ext24

£25, very well sealed, standard bearings.

The ext24 on my commuter has lasted 3 (4?) years, by my maths that's at least 15,000 km, it's still fine.
