I've got a new build to do and need to get a new groupset. The new GX has caught my eye and in particular I'm interested in the new GX carbon cranks.
However I'm not too fussed over the 52t rear cassette and will be quite happy with the older 50t version, which has the bonus of being a bit cheaper. Does anyone please know, will the new carbon cranks (and more specifically the new GX chain ring) be compatible with the older 50t cassette and chain?
Yeah, old and new are compatible, other than them not recommendimg the old mech with the 52t cassette
As above - new mech is 52t and 50t compatible, old mech is only 50t compatible. Cranks are fully compatible, as the chain hasn't changed.
Just done it, didn't want the 52 cog so went for a discounted GX upgrade kit from Germany and fitted X0 cranks and Eagle chainring we had in the garage.
