Thinking of another pair of Mavic Ksyrium Equipes (came as standard on my bike) unless anyone can think of anything better in a similar price range?

Go for the same again, that way no problem with brake or gear setup, one set of spare bearings covers both sets. I've done the same with Fulcrum Racing 7's, three sets, one on muds, one on inters and the others with slicks for warming up on rollers/road rides.

If you are happy with them go for the same again. All I can recommend is mavic open pros, they are heavy as hell but take a stupid amount of abuse.
