They're going cheap and look similar to MAxxis advantages / FAs in tread, although the side nobs are closely spaced and quite big.
Are these an improvement over the death on a stick previous versions?
Anybody used them and got any feedback.
Dirt put them in their 100, which suggests they're nothing like the old ones! I wish Black Chili tyres tubelessed better...
where are they going cheap? I like the look of them, maybe with an x-king on the back.
Are they the "Made in Germany" black chilli variant or the plain "Made in India" version?
I really like mine. Not race tyres but they are predictable and grippy which is about all I ask for.
I got the cheapo wire ones and they have been good so far. I used to ride the top end Conti tyres (when I knew someone that worked there so could get them half price) and have not noticed the difference.
The wire ones are £12 on Ribble I think they are about the saem on CRC? I'm not sure I could justify 3x the price for the folding protection ones.
Merlin are doing the UST ones for £37
They look like the original non chilli versions which i believe got poor reviews etc, i've got the mark 2 black chilli versions and they work really well for local riding (southdowns) but i did find them hard work in welsh trail centres for some reason, went back to maxxis on next trip much better there.
Mind you at £50 or so each they should be good...
Bats.
I'm a big fan, did the IOM End2End on pair last year and have stuck with them since.
Got my latest pair from here (£11.95 each) - High On Bikes
I ordered them on a Friday lunchtime and they were on my doorstep the following morning 😀
