I'm loving the GoPro I had for Christmas but have come to the conclusion after many attempts that my aging PC and laptop are not good enough to edit the raw footage without grinding to a halt. As a result I'm looking to buy a new computer that can handle HD editing. It has to be able to handle making 5min clips without struggling.
I quite fancy going for an Apple, can anyone suggest what spec I should be looking for? Laptop or desktop, I don't mind. many thanks
What software are you using to edit the films?
No point in buying hardware which the software won't take advantage of.
Cyberlink Power Director 8 at the moment though if I get a Mac I'd probably use Imovie
As video editing is very CPU intensive, I would go for a desktop as it has less chance of overheating and you can buy replacement bits easily.

I would go for an i5 or i7 processor, 16gb ram (minimum), a couple of big fast hard drives, and semi-decent graphics card, win7 64 bit.
