[Closed] New commuter bike required for 20 miles each way - advice gratefully received

Putting this out there to the single track world crew...... I'm about to start doing a 20 mile each way (on road) commute so need a new pair of wheels. There are couple of decent hills on the route and I want to cover the ground as quickly as possible. I'll need mudguards and panniers of course. It also needs to be comfortable to ride as I'll spend a decent amount of time in the saddle. To add another twist I need a bike with a fairly short top tube / reach. I'm 5"6 but have a relatively short torso in relation to my overall height. In a road bike I look to get 510 or 520 top tube. Budget: I'm fairly loose. I don't really want to pay more than £1500 but can if I have to. Equally, if I can find something for £400 that does the job then I'll go for that as the bike will only be used for commuting duties. I'm thinking fast tourer, Cx, or road bike that can take the panniers etc? Suggestions please, even better if you know somewhere that has something on offer (new or Second Hand. What do you recon?

My (awful) commuter has been battered and worn down by the weather so I'm getting a new shiney Genesis Alfine Day One in the hope that the drivetrain will last more than one harsh winter.
