In my experience no. Whenever ive put a new chain on and the cassette was too worn it jumps around like mad and no matter how much adjusting it stays pretty much unrideable. Will probably wear the chain out pretty quickly as well.

No you will knacker your new chain it certainly won't work on the most used sprockets

Its the two smallest sprockets that its jumpimg 🙁

WTD: 11 and 13 teeth XT sprockets!!!

Rio that works out as £20 for two sprockets,
I might aswell get a new SLX cassette for £30 cannot see there being much difference from XT to SLX! a few grams maybe?

I didn't say it was cost-effective! 🙂 Some of the XT ones are £4.99 so it may just be worth it - I've done it with £9.98 worth of sprockets and it seems to be ok but if you can get a cheap cassette I'd go with that.

I have ordered a seperate 11 tooth cog to change the ratio on a 12/27 9 speed cassette.It was about 5 years ago though
