new chain time 4 powerlinks is too many and some of the links are ready to go cant use the old one for a guide as bits of it are all over the north east and i think some on the chevin too how do i work it out its for my 456 running old school 3x9

Thread big ring to big cog, without going through the rear derailleur, pull tight and allow two extra links to where they meet.
