Is it best to soak in degreaser to remove wax coating before fitting and lubing.

keep that coating on, best lube you can get! when it rubs/dries off start lubing.

that is bollox ime - it attracts muck like shit to a blanket. Degrease and lube PROPERLY

just remove the excess lube on the plates and use as is no need to degrease and relube, besides the relube won't penetrate as deeply into the chain as the factory lube does
