I fancied a new MTB, I wanted a change from my Canyon Nerve AM (just sold) and this meant I'd only have my Charge Cooker maxi left. I love the fat bike but sometimes it gets a bit knackerig so I fancied a plus hardtail that would take 29er wheels and did some hunting...
I really wanted a Pipedream Sirius but it was too pricey and not boost, the new one isn't out until next year according to their website. It's probably a bit hardcore for my needs too. I looked at Cotic and recent threads on here highlighted the Genesis Tarn but in the end went for a Ghost Roket AL8 from CRC. About £1350 once BC and Quidco taken into account.
Seems a decent buy, full XT, Lev Integra dropper and pretty long and slack enough. The rhythm 34 forks get good reviews so other than shorter cranks I'll be riding it as it comes out of the box.
It's been showing as dispatched from CRC for a couple of days but no tracking info detail. I really hoped it would arrive today. Annoying. Particularly as I need the box to post another bike I've sold.
Not come across those, pics when it arrives please!
Definitely will. I've never seen them before and not seen much in the way of reviews, but it ticked all my current boxes so I thought it was worth a punt.
I'm intrigued. When you say it ticket all your boxes, have you actually ridden it?
Or do you mean boxes other than how it rides...
All the boxes other than how it rides (as I've not ridden one; I've never even seen one before). I've bought 5 of my last 6 bikes online without a test ride first and have been happy with the results every time. I've sussed the geometry charts and it feels like it will be right, I had the money available so I went for it.
If I was spending £3k my attitude may be different or if I was buying the Pipedream Sirius with it's relatively extreme geometry I'd want to ride one first.
FYI CRC seem to have a recent habit of doing this. It took 4 days from "dispatched" email to having any tracking information on the last frame I bought from them (about 3 months ago), which would appear to mean they booked it in but didn't actually send it for 4 days.
That's what has happened, the Parcelforce website shows as "advised" which means they have been told it's coming but it isn't in their system as yet.
I've got visions of an artic trailer 3/4 full waiting for people to buy bikes and fill the trailer to the brim, before they send, with my bike somewhere in the middle.
It doesn't necessarily mean it hasn't been sent. Once the pre-advice is received by RM the next update should be when it is scanned into the local Deilvery Office. The last package I got from CRC never got this scan so it went Preadvice received, Scanned into Exeter, Scanned into local depot, Delivery notification, delivered. So it would appear that the issue is actually with the local depot in NI.
**EDIT** I've spent the last few months battling with Royal Mail IT systems to determine why an integration wasn't working so this is a bit of a pet subject at the moment!
Hopefully it arrives on Monday when I'm working from home...
Update; it's at their national hub...
I saw these on CRC, they looked good on pixels. Keen to see it and hear your feedback McNulty.
Hey, you aren't Honky McNulty from The Wire are you? Sheiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit.
I've been McNultyCop since way before The Wire was even conceived! Long story...
