Hello!
After breaking my Santa Cruz bullit's shocks in the alps, I was lucky/unluckly enough to borrow a friends 'xc' bike, a Trek Scratch.

Unfortunately it is the best bike I have ever ridden, and puts my heavy bullit to shame. I was also able to keep near as fast as some of me mates on sessions... and good up hill...

So now I want a new bike, rather then spending money on fixing a poorly bike. But they don't make Trek Scratch's any more...

What options (and reccommendations ) do I have for a bike similar to a Trek Scratch? Looked at a Trek Slash, Kona CoilAIR, and Orange Patriot... Any suggestions, reviews? I havent got a lot of money, so happy for old stock, second hand etc ....

Cheers Guys

just wait it out mate. They'll be buying The next Best Bike Available for both of them soon, i'm sure, so you can make him an offer on one of theirs!

What build do you have on your Bullit?

As lighten it up. Fit a air fork and shock, add lighter wheels and tires. Could be less then a new bike as you can sell all your old parts.

lesoxdh..
I have a pair of old boxxers on the front... currently with no oil in them.. I have the original fifth element shock on the back... Wheels, have some easton havocs front and rear that both need new bearings, and ones a bit of an oval... Bottom bracket is stiff.. headset has ceased...

I know some superstar wheels... new bearings in the headset and maybe some new forks, or repaired boxxers will come to at least £400 to fix a bike, that not quite what I want!

i will look around however.. I could just respray the frame... then i have a new bike!

It sounds like you have the old Bullit, but with some nice bits on it. The reason i asked, is that i have the New Bullit but mine is set up for downhill and i have it at 37 pound in weight.

Now you have said that i would say get a new ride. sell as many parts on EBAY and use to a new ride.
