[#11860715]

After a injury which kept me off the bike for nine months I decided to treat myself for my birthday.
Only ordered it around two weeks ago and today it arrived.

Geometron G1 in large.
Still need a couple of bits doing to it, but put it together this afternoon ready to ride over the weekend.
I think it looks rather nice.

Good stuff, can't really add much to that build, Ext front and rear will be interesting to work out as well, what wheels are you running, mullet or not?

Yep it's mullet ATM but might try it in full 29 too.
That's one of the really good things about the G1 swap the mutators and use different sized wheels without altering the geo.

Very purposeful. 👌

More importantly, you need to vary your fruit diet some more.

The only thing I could think to replace my now four year old g15 with, is one of these. Looks nice👍
And if you can't make one go round a tight corner, you can't ride properly 😁

Cracking bike and I'm sure you will love it. Be interested to hear thoughts on comparison with G13 in due course.
Enjoy!

Thats nice is that.

Worth putting a bit of velcro (or something soft) inside the driveside seat stay, stops the chain making a racket.

Nice! I should be getting my G1 very soon too, hopefully being built up this week so I can go and collect it soon. Mine's in black though 😉

Same as I did on the G13 and G16 then.😎

The G13 is a Geometron just with shorter travel 130 rear 150 front.
G1 will be my Gnarpoon/Mincetank/Uplift/Endurobro bike.

Theres going to be a lot of glum envious faces you're going to meet on the trails 😆 That has to be one of the best looking capable bikes I've ever seen.

I think Northwind takes the credit for the phrase Mincetank.

Maybe if all you have to ride is Swinley. Luckily I have some very nice trails and an uplift service here on my doorstep.

Sneaky stealth add.
There will be a G16 size large up for sale soon.

You wouldn't be saying that if you actually tried one. They're absolutely fantastic, the length of them really isn't an issue and in fact it's a plus 99% of the time. That coupled with the bespoke setup for the individual and it makes a whole world of difference. I cannot wait to get mine.

VEry possibly, but they do seem very focused in what they do to me. I run a 160 which obviously is no XC whippet, but the Geometron do seem a step way above that with the head angle and length etc. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong one day.

I don't think our Southernlandshire trails would make one worthwhile. But as an N+1 kept in the garage for those special days/holidays, lovely. (Well, for someone not in the RUCKUS squad anyway.)

Nice one, stu. I like mine more and more. The raw is great, there's just no worries with it. Are those graphics stuck on, or have they started blasting them? I have a habit of messing up my decals with the workstand

got a bit excited when i saw the thread title, i have a raw Privateer 141 on order!

its a bit like the pikey version of this, but at least it can carry a bottle...

debating whether you would get a raw frame wrapped?? my current bike is peppered with paint chips!! but they are all cosmetic, no serious damage.

Graphics are still stickers.

The whole idea of the raw frame is that it doesn't matter if it gets scratched.
If it gets a bit dull or scuffed up you just give it a bit of a going over with a scotchbrite pad.
My raw G13 is almost three years old and still looks great.

I'd love a go on a Privateer. They seem pretty sorted.👍

Lovely.

You've been very restrained with the coloured anodising as well, I must say.

That looks amazing. And almost as long as the tandem I bought off you! Tandem is still going strong by the way and gets ridden more than any other bike, including recent trips to Coed Y Brenin and Nant Yr Arian.

I think they seem horrific to ride

-Its the only bike I've owned that has had zero issues
-It works as a system, front and rear working together, unlike other bikes where is always feels like there is a mistmatch
-EXT storia is on a different level to anything else I've used (Fox X2, Super Deluxe, Ohlins TTX)
-Support from Geometron is second to none, no other manufacturer comes close to what they offer.

I do like the raw/industrial look of them, there is something nice about a bike with no paint. It's been a long time since i've owned a Nicolai, but they are true to their roots 🙂

You wouldn’t be saying that if you actually tried one. They’re absolutely fantastic, the length of them really isn’t an issue and in fact it’s a plus 99% of the time. That coupled with the bespoke setup for the individual and it makes a whole world of difference. I cannot wait to get mine.

That of course, is subjective. Having ridden a few extensively, safe to say they turn me into a wobbler, which is the reason why at 6'2" I ride a bike only just bigger than the smallest one they make.

When I take my bike for some work there on the shock, i'm sure I can see Porter twitching - usually itching to tell me how unrideably small my bike is. If I mention i'm faster and find it more fun it's meltdown time. 😆
