This year I've done LEJOG (on road), C2C (off-roadish), a few 100 mile+ sportives and a couple of the big 12/24 hour races.
I need something to challenge, inspire and excite me for next year.
Road or off-road, single or multiday. Not La Ruta (too scary), TransRockies (riding partner done it), TransWales (too Welsh) or the Marmotte (doing that 2012).
I can think of Tour of Cyprus, Cape Epic, TransAlp, Etape du Tour...
What else is there?
The Great divide race?
John o'Groats to Lands End offroad?
Or just get map(s) and ride from home (offroad where able) as far as possible in a week?
Fancy being a computational chemistry for a year I can sub out my work to you ?
Paris roubaix? I was going to say the Etape as well.
Did you do the 12/24 hour races solo?
We had a great time riding ventoux 3 times in one day, then went down to alp d'huez to ride the thursday morning time trial they do there. And you can do a bit of col bagging in between, or take the mountain bike as well. Makes it a bit more relaxed.
Megavalanche? I'm a fairly jey trail rider and am doing it next year.
I heard of someone planning to ride all the UK's navigable waterways once.
About 2000 to 3000 miles depending on whether you just count the main canal network or include all the disjointed bits of river as well.
Good choice if you don't like hills. ๐
I am seriously considering the Tour Divide if I can spare the time off...
Paris-Brest-Paris 2011?
1200km in 80, 84 or 90 hours.

Some good suggestions (apart from the chemistry, though I have grade A A-level, from the time when A-levels were hard...). Thanks, keep them coming!
I've done 12 hour solos, 24 doesn't appeal at the moment.
trans-provence
proper riding, none of this fire road nonsense.
Tour of Flanders Sportive on Saturday, watch the pros race on Sunday.
Stay on for a week....
Paris-Roubaix sportive on Saturday, watch the race on Sunday
In both cases, do the full edition (c260km each).
Chemin du Soleil?

Someone posted a link and some photos a while ago... I'd love to do it; just need to find the time!

Tour of Flanders/Paris Roubaix could be fun... well, sort of fun. I think I'll be doing some research tonight.
mega avalanch!
I would do a TransAlp (not the race)
about a week, fab mountains
C
Sarn helen in 4 days or any of the '7 deadly spins' that Rob Lee did/tried in the uk.
Why not calm down and do a nice long MTB tour in Scotland.
Waderider - don't worry, I tend to do a week of relaxing/holiday riding every year.
Sarn Helen? Not heard of that... (off to google)
You should reconsider the TransWales - it's a great event.
Tour of Flanders/Paris Roubaix could be fun... well, sort of fun.
My usual Flanders riding buddy is heading out for both next year.
Mrs North and I have just had a baby, so there's no way I can get the miles in between now and then or use up valuable holidays riding my bike (what a *crazy* idea that would be..!).
Trans-Portugal
No alcohol for 12 months?
Tour du Mont Blanc?
Not heard much about the 2011 version but it's a big ride for sure
Pyrenees coast to coast, Flanders Sportiv, L'Eroica?
Mt Ventoux Triple Challenge, or whatever it's called?
Cristalp is the hardest race I've ever known, been doing it for the past few years but for next year its the Transvesubienne for me, based on it being new and a more technical race.
great wall of china
M25 25 times
Camino del Santiago in northern Spain. Long distance pilgrims route.
Thanks everyone - so much choice. I've even thought of one by myself - RAAM! I'll need a few friends though.
I am tempted by the 'Raid Pyrenean' Just doubt I could persuade the Mrs to give me permission ๐ณ

Fancy being a computational chemistry for a year I can sub out my work to you ?
I'll do that if you do my organic and inorganic labs (only 12 hours a week for 10 weeks!) ๐
Lands end to john o groats and back? Ride through every English county?
+1 for tour of flanders.
i'm doing it in April. Plan is to do the sportive saturday, watch the race ssunday then do the highlights of paris roubaix monday, basically from the trench to the velodrome. can't wait
Trans Pyrenees
Camino de Santiago
Ruta de Plata
The GR7
i've got my eye on a couple of 300km audaxes next year.
Breck Epic
The Colorado trail
Trans Pyrenees / North Sea Randonnee (7000km!)---seriously though like you I`ve ridden C2C and LEJOG and my next step was indeed trans Pyrenees, a really graet experince and if you can manage LEJOG will be within your abilities, allow 6-7 days
3 Peaks!
Paris-Roubaix is great, suggest the 'Essential' which is over 100 miles and includes the cobbles, the full route is just a 50 odd mile warm up on flattish roads in northern France and you have to start very early. However it's only every two years so next in 2012.
The Tour of Flanders also sounds very good but what about one of the other sportive 'Monuments'?
Fred Whitton?
As above, 3 Peaks?
Trans Cambrian in 2 days?
Doing l'eroica on Sunday so will report back on that one.
BC Bike race.. not endless miles on the bike, but 7 super fun days of technically challenging riding!
I've even thought of one by myself - RAAM!
Don't do RAAM - it's the ultimate slog, and you need a team of support and it's done by pros and insane amateurs.
The Tour Divide is much better because a) it's off-road, b) it's self supported, c) it's very amateur based and hence has a proper friendly atmos and d) there are no boring crap bits to hack through.
