Any advice on getting rid of neck pain and main reasons that can cause it?

I'm 5ft 8 on a Small Cotic Soul. 685mm bars and 65mm stem (6degree) 10mm setback seat post.

Any setup tips?

really depends on the location of the pain? Base of the neck? base of skull?
Road bikes generally cause a lot of neck pain but mtb's rarely do.
Any injuries of late? shoulders? Back?

No set up advice (not that smart)

But can advise that you do HEAVY exercise to strengthen neck and shoulder muscles.

in time the strain will ease as strength increases.

if its to one side its probably not setup related. If there's been no injuries and the fact that its on one side more than another its more likely to be you than the bike.
I'd go and see a physio.
I have spent a fair amount of money on physio work over th last year sorting acute neck pain that i thought was A:injury related and B:setup related. Wasn't either. Shitty posture which irritated a nerve.
Get it looked at.

MIGHT be a muscle called levator scapulae which you are straining by being too tense on your bike. Do you hold your breath going over technical sections?

I'm a tense rider but only on the extremely rough steep stuff, a lot of sites saying tt too long and stem height/rise - I'm short body long legs! Bit of a mutant haha - appreciate the advice lads!

I have something similar but think its probably due to going over bars a few weeks ago. Only thing is that pain has been constant and not subsided over time as you would expect. Had an x ray on Friday just to be on the safe side.
