Hello - I am thinking of doing NCN 7 from Newcastle - Carlisle - Galloway - Glasgow to Inverness. I am doing it solo on a 29er hardtail and was wondering if the whole 602 miles could be done in 6 days. I am very fit and think 100 miles a day in mid June is realistic. Last year I did the Glasgow to Inverness over 4 days and think 3 is doable. I will be staying in YHA and hostels on route and just travelling with a 30l Rucksack. Is Newcastle to Glasgow doable in 3 days, bit concerned I may have under estimated the route through Galloway forest ? should I be aiming for more like 7 or 8 days ?
thanks
Dunno about south of the border, but you'd make very good time going through the Galloway forest, it's pretty much all on fire roads/tarmac and quite direct.
cheers. Any one else ? any advice on stop off places or over all time.
Gets some dry bags and straps and attach everything to the bike. You've not got alot in 30l. So why carry it on your back?
Fit some slicks. Or something a wee bit tougher for the fire roads.
