My single speed cranks (on Langster) are narrower than triple XT on mtb, i.e. the pedals are ~3cm closer together. This seems to suit my leg geometry much better, and I feel able to generate more power (rather than like I'm preparing to give birth).
What are the narrowest mtb cranks? (can be double)

You're looking for a lower Q-factor. There are listings of some around e.g.
