[#6193534]

I remember doing a great Nan Bield ride a few years ago (that involved a quick shortcut of cheek from High St to top of Nan bield itself.

I was thinking of doing the same route this weekend but.... my memories abit hazy. If I take a map I 'should' be ok? Are there any online existing maps/routes I could take just incase as I imagine it wouldn't be worth relying on memory alone? Any pointers?

Its Stavely bikeshop start- anti-clockwise through village then uptowards High st- across cheek - down Nan then up Garburn - down the other side.

Staveley to High street you'd just go round the road to Troutbeck and push up from the head of the valley to Thornthwaite Beacon.

On the way back from Kentmere it's a straight spin back down the valley whilst the Garburn takes you back over to Troutback. if you want to include that as well it'd make more sense to start/finish in Troutbeck not Staveley.

I've never done it. I've only ever done Nan Bield from the Haweswater side. Looks a good route, although it seems a shame to cycle up Garburn pass rather than down it!!

You mean Harter Fell. I know this because it was me that sent you up there when you bailed at the top of Gatesgarth ๐Ÿ™‚

Get to the top of Gatesgarth pass and look for the wide stone track turning left.

what lowey said, here

Oh and going up garbun from kentmere and down towards troutbeck sounds a bit pants. Troutbeck side has been sanitised, better route if park at kentmere (get there early) BOAT over to sadgill, up longsleddale to top of gatesgarth, HF, nan bield, BW from kentmere hall to High Borrans over to Dubbs rd up there and Garburn rocky descent into Kentmere.

Ah the slightly knife-edge, often ridge-like trail from there that takes you to the stone circle/shelter ๐Ÿ˜€
