Airbus is working with a US firm called Aerion to build its own supersonic jet that can fly from London to NEC in three hours

pfft, you could drive that in 2 hours...

We'll not see passengers boarding a commercial supersonic aircraft before 2025 I reckon...

If at all, what with video conferencing/webex technology.

Can't see that ever happening as a commercial proposition. Private jet for the super-rich... maybe.

Not sure why but saying "the Concorde" always grates too. Should just be "Concorde" IMO.

have a tri-jet configuration with an engine on top of the aircraft and two others under each wing

So, is it three engines or five? - make your mind up!

that can fly from London to NEC in three hours

That's rubbish - even our pitiful trains can do it quicker

Ah - I understand, now.

There is some good maths in this article.

Aerion's AS2 jet will fly at 1217mph making it almost as fast as the Concorde, which flew at 1350mph
