Going to N wales in May just wondered which is the best trail centre in everyones opinion?
Long weekend??
I'd visit Coed-Y-Brenin & do some riding there, then probably be up and out early on the final day and drive to Penmachno for a lap or two.
Penmachno & Coed-y-Brenin are, in my opinion, the top two.
C-y-B has enough riding to fill a couple of days.
Penmachno has two loops totalling 30km (Loop 119km & Loop 2 11km) - I did it in around 3 hours last time I was there, so good for a half-day or a couple of 'laps'. Penmachno is a seriously good trail though!
Llandegla is ok if you like fast, flowy, non-technical trails. Nice for a blast round if you've got a couple of hours to fill.
Penmachno & Llandegla are only about 40 mins drive apart so could be combined to fill a day.
Personally, I'd advise avoiding the Marin trail - too much fire road for my liking, and not very good compared to what else is is on offer.
nanty arian is also quite nice. (not sure whether it strictly qualifies as 'north' wales though, it's more mid)
Thanks for replies guys have done llandegla so not bothered about doing that again i was thinking penmachno or coed y brenin its only a day trip anyway so maybe penmachno
CyB during the week. Penmachno at the weekend.
CyB then fit in a days riding at penmachno and the marin!!!
Last time I went to N Wales I enjoyed the Marin trail, loved Snowdon and hated CyB.
I did them in that order mind, so i think by the time I pitched up at CyB I was a little tired, my head wasn't in it and it was my first visit since the centre moved from the west of the A470....
Beast at CYB is an awesome ride,if wet defo CYB..Penmachno drains poorly and CYB nicer for a shower and a bite to eat before driving back.
Penmachno is lovely after a couple of dry days...rare event ๐
