My 29 year old road bike [finally got one] ;-).

Took it on the road the other day but I think new tyres and tube are needed for piece of mind.

The tyres are 27 x 1/4 no problems getting these. The question is I have some 700cc tubes and was wondering if I can use these???

Also, should I get leather faced pads for the steel rims ?

Or will I die ?

PS Should I get a rear mudguard ?

The tubes will be fine there is only a few mill difference between 700c and 27 .I never had a very good experience with leather pads .Personally I would put modern 700c wheels on ,looking at the brakes they may drop the blocks low enough to take 700c and with alloy rims you might stop in the wet

Thanks. Edric 64

The front barely works in the dry.. lol.

The rubber on the old raleigh pads has probably gone funny.
