Summer bike is an Isaac Impulse. This year I thought why should the winter bike be a heavy piece of crap? Done a couple of 100 milers on it already and it feels good!

Glad to see not using that money to fix the fence enabled you to get a winter bike thats better than my summer bike!

Deep drop brakes and proper guards is the way to go to winter. Good mudflaps are also a good idea if you have any friends...

bigdugsbaws, the front looks similar but the back is different.

Taff, rented property for 6 months so fence is not my list of things to do!

ac282, I'm no stranger to proper guards and diy mudflaps. However I'm quite impressed by these Crud guards. Good coverage and even an overlap by the chainset to reduce the amount of gunk on the chain. Was thinking about making some lightweight flaps thou!

OP's winter bike is better than my bike bike.

As mentioned they are Crud MK2s. Just bought some myself, cheapest place on the net is Rutland Cycles' eBay shop.

i put the cruds on my winter bike last night. what a hassle. They'll be staying on all winter now.

True that, takes about 15 minutes to get them on the bike and running perfectly. Ridiculous. Also on my second winter with them and they've spontaneously combusted zero times, but I'm sure it will happen any day now..

Yes, the mudguards.

These crud catchers aside, would anyone recommend any others ?.

These seem interesting for road bikes without clearance: http://www.jejamescycles.co.uk/giant-defy-avail-item166654.html

I've done something similar in the past by chopping a SKS P35 in half and making my own fixing, but those look much neater (and easier).

As I have a Defy, with the appropriate eyelets, I tried to get some of those. Most places are out of stock, including Tredz doing their usual selling stuff then emailing to say the item isn't actually in stock routine. Only place I found them were about 30% more than the MK2s, which after 10 mins fitting have been fine so far.

For those have combustion problems, give Crud an email. Apparently they are very good at sending spares out.

Sorry, I must be having a slow day, I didn't understand that.

Not meaning to hijack the thread, nice bike BTW.

But seeing that bike has reminded me that I need to sort out some mudguards.
And yes, I am looking for something I can get to fit well around the tyre, close.

Just wondered what the STW massive would recommend.

The cruds do look good.
But that last section on the rear wheel has no stay.
I expect it may flap about, abit ?.

A friend riding behind me commented that it shook from side to side, but it doesnt touch the tyre so not too big a problem.

If only I could! Weird body proportions mean if I did, the saddle to bar drop would be far more than my little girl like core strength could manage.

just a joke damitamit - looks good.

Is that a 54cm - what dealer DengFu? Any issues with ordering or anything like that?

Whats the latest with these frames any more major breakages?

Yep, a 54cm. Looked into Dengfu etc, but in the end ordered from Carbonzone so I could get it through Ebay with a bit more protection.

Once the order was made, it was surprisingly quick. I was expecting a month so hadn't bought the parts when it arrived 10 days later.

I decided on the FM028 after reading the 5 100-page threads on RoadBikeReview. Seemed that no-one had reported any breakages and only a couple had problems with extra resin on headtubes etc. Mine was perfect.

I have the SKS race blades. They are fiddly of course, but you can get them ok. They look really crap tho. No clearance on my bike for anything else.
