Hello - 1st post. My new Alacarte ti which means I no longer have to look at Gee's photos/writings. First impressions - it's fast!

22lb all up - all Ti (USE post, Van Nic stem and bars).
Currently sorting the position. Quick question as currently set up the levers will hit the top tube if the bars rotate round hence the rather crude protector on the top tube - will a light ally lever (hope race) break before denting the top tube?
Can't you stick a 2.5mm or 5mm headset spacer to raise the bars slightly or angle the brake levers up a tad?
nice though ๐
Thanks - bars actually slightly higher than I want so can't raise any more and the levers will be all wrong if angle them up.
I'd be VERY surprised if an alloy lever broke before denting the top tube but don't have a solution that doesn't involve moving the levers which you don't want to do. DFC.*
*Don't F****** Crash
you'll dent the tube before the lever breaks.
Either get a fixie**** style top tube protector or angle the levers up a bit.
you'll ride better with flatter controls too ๐
Levers up it is then!
(a) Angle the levers up a bit. I dunno when it became fashionable to have them dangling down so far underneath the bars.
(b) Don't tighten them up too much and they should rotate round the bar in the event of any contact with the top tube.
Lever angle looks perfectly sensible to me.
That's proper nice. The last, good Salsa.
The brake levers hit the frame on my DBR, but hasn't been a problem.
Nice ๐
You know 650b wheels fit in those frames as well so it's even future proof...

I like my bars low and wide, so most of my XC bikes the levers would hit the TT. A bit of heli-tape where they hit and loose enough levers (think being able to move them up/down with a 2 finger push) and they just move out the way. They don't actually need to be done up very tight at all.
Helps that I run avids, where the levers will pop out if they're pushed outwards.
Nice bike.
I can't quite make out what levers you have, but Hope's pull out too when pushed outwards in a crash - I've not actually damaged a frame but it makes a mess of the paintwork. If you're really worried you can make some protection out of thin sheet metal - I've used a small section cut from a drinks can with a few wraps of tape on top to hold it on (self-amalgamating gives extra cushioning).
Looks very nice.

Agree with a, definitely NOT b
It's not fashion it's comfort, depends on where your hands sit naturally.
Could you alter the lever reach to bring the levers in closer to the bar to remove contact?
Large frame 1700g

Cost more than the car it's leant against.....
Currently injured ๐ณ - faster with injury than FS without ๐
wider bars so the brakes are more 'outboard' and might clear the slope of the top tube better?
nice to see a proper ti bike.
That's uncannily familiar:
Medium 1616g
SID RLT Ti 100, pushloc
Hope Pro 3 SP / ZTR355 / Ralphs

Nice bike!
Medium 1616g
Gratifying to know my cheapo Taiwanese made Ti frame (Genesis Altitude) in the same size is 136g lighter though!!! ๐
Like Gees that is very tidy, lovely bike
mmmmmmmmmmmmm
I did raise the levers. Then went for a test ride. I kept on thinking how I was running out of gears and doing my route so much faster.
At some point I got a little careless not realising how fast I was going when I tried to pick a less muddy line. Spinning hard on big ring and 7th cog (I counted after) meant it was a very hard off but I am only bruised/grazed and the bike is fine (phew).
Moving from 26lb FS with Nics to this rather highlights my lack of skill.............
