I've changed the seat and tyres from standard. I'll be looking for silver thomson seatpost and stem and a nice pair of silver bars soon too. Oh and a silver hope seatclamp.

Strong work. Really nice bike. I nearly got one, but opted for the Altitude 10 instead.

Lovely... if I can ever bear to be parted from my 1x1, I reckon I'll be going for something similar.

Very nice.

I'd like to get an Alfine rear wheel built up for my iO at some point.

Only picked it up today so only been for a spin round the block. The gear change is excellent, although the engagement isn't quite what I'm used to. I'll be giving it a test run in the Lakes on Saturday.

It does take a little getting used to, but once you are, the way you can drop a number of gears ready for a new section, without spinning the pedals or even whilst standing still is pretty handy. nice and quiet aswell.

enjoy it.

Nice. Id quite like one of them.

Is fixing a puncture on rear wheel a faff? (general question to alfine owners)

EDIT: only one ive ever seen fitted was on P7.

haven't actually got to that stage yet, but from what ive read, its loosening the chain side tensioner, enough to pop the chain off the sprocket when you've undone the wheel nuts. only grumble from me is having to carry round a 15mm spanner but its no massive problem.

this could all change once ive had to change a puncture....

actually, OP's got first hand experience of wheel off so should be able to give you a better idea.

get an old alloy multi size flat spanner to carry (not those old chrome steel Raleigh ones!)
Surly chaintug on the drive side works a treat as just pulls off once wheel nuts loose, you have to use the serrated washer on the non drive though to stop your axle rotating and causing all sorts of problems ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Coastkid - is that Alfine above on a Surly 1x1? (recognize the dropouts)

Reason I ask is that I may need to gear mine up next year when I move somewhere (much) hillier. How did you sort the cable routing - is it a zip tie job?

The windows in shot are my next door neighhbours and are plastic. We have wood double glazing.

I plan on getting a 15mm spanner and mounting it on the bottle cage mounts, unless anyone can link me to a pre drilled cool spanner?

I use the Pedros Trixie comes with some rather handy wingbolts for bottle cage use ๐Ÿ˜€ or for smaller pocket use there is the Park SS-15C I love slightly pointless tools!

I found it a faff to change a tube when I had an Alfine so I cheated and used a Nobby Nic tubeless. Magic.

Enjoy it, nice bike.

Bars, stem and seatpost will be changed shortly. It's going out for it's first ride today so I'll get a feel for it and decide what needs changing then.
