Cannondale CAAD4 R500 from 2004 £300-£375 on ebay I hear you say, but.........

Dura Ace 7800 2x10 STI's (so according to wiggle who still have them in stock they're worth more than the bike)
DA 7800 rear mech, SP41 cables etc
Ultegra cassette
FSA SLK mega-exo carbon chainset, 34/50.
Shimano R550 wheels
Bontanger race-x-lite carbon bars
Selle Italia C2 saddle, in yellow to match the bike.

The rest is still OEM or just replaced with middle of the road stuff as it's worn out or become obsolete.

Can't decide whether to sell it or not, on the one hand LBS has a cannondale sale on and I really fancy a supersix 105, on the other hand there's plenty of reviews out there saying shimano stuff went downhill when they hid the cables under the bar tape, although I could sell it minus the STI's and mech and keep those (I'd take the cranks to but the new frames are BB30 and adapter cups seem a faf).

Anyone any ideas what it's worth with/without the shifters?

Is there much of a market for a relatively low end (but still quite nice) frame on it's own and sell the cranks, wheels, etc, separately?

Definitely sell separately. No idea what it's worth, but I do know that an 8 year old bike with a set of Dura-Ace 7800 shifters is probably worth no more than if it had the original shifters on, and clearly they are still worth a lot.

I'd definitely break it up and sell it. More hassle, but you'll get a lot more money for it.

7800 was very nice, but still seven years old.

Cannondale frames sell well, as will the shifters and chainset.

Even after splitting your probably not going to get much more than the 300 figure you mentioned I don't think. Although hold off a month until TDF is on tv and then stick it on eBay. It goes mental on there when the tour is on.

Upgraded entry level 8 year old bike?

Your estimate seems about right, if you split.

Well a CAAD4 frame just sold for £200 on ebay, the shifters go for about the same, chainsets ~£100, mechs ~£30, wheels ~£70, even if the rest get's demoted for a fiver to someones pub bike I'm better off over the price that stock bikes sell for.

Might stick it in the classifides and see if anyone's interested in the complete bike based on the cost of the nice bits and frame.

Spoonie. Get the 105 Super Six. It's lovely. I've no problem at all with the cables where they should be (hidden under the bar tape)
What size is your 'dale? It could be right up my street (well, it could be in my cellar and then up my street etc.)
I seem to be having some problems getting a back up bike.

Once you changed the bits I guess the R500 bit becomes irrelevant

More accurately; a CAAD4 with list of bits, like Durace etc.

At some point CAAD4 was the works ride so 'entry level' might understate it a bit.

I think you might get £400+ if tiptop condition with good photos etc. by July. I personally would stretch to that if tiptop vs a £999 Boardman or whatever..

Ride on the later dale may feel a bit more tuned, but I'm not sure it would be a material upgrade (but then again it wouldn't stop me!).

New wheels, tyres and tape perhaps to cure that itch?
