[#11904461]

For many of us big rides are something to aim for.

Some of us we will never achieve the stuff in the magazines.

For me today was a big one, my first 100k

Hot, painful and a challenge after my journey back from IT in 2018.

I hope for those of us that have to work hard at what we do, keep on the trail and keep trying.

Happy Trails

Nice one. This thread and that other one about the 100 miler are great inspiration. Good job.

Congratulations. All the people doing those things in magazines had a first 100k too at some point.

I remember my first 100k ride - on the road, with my mate Jon. 2009 maybe?

What's next?

Bloke I occasionally ride with who loves all the power and training data reckon off road riding is 2 to 3 times harder than on road, so that's no mean feat. 👍

Nice one OP. I bet it was a warm one!

I was stuck in my house installing door linings so I am jealous! 😂

Hi damascus, it’s the Camino in a medium.

I have had it since January and love it to bits. The only change from the Rival 1 stock specification is an Ultimate Black 38t oval chain ring.

I have a new wheel set on the way with some dedicated road tyres, the gravel tyres are a bit “grabby”

Hi tthew, to be honest it was 95% on road with only the off road section between Ramsbottom and Helmshore to kick up dust.

Mind you Eastlands felt like Terra Incognito 😉

I've only gone over 100km once before so I'm sharing your pain and elation as I did 101km on Saturday.
I do similar with my Arkose, a set of mavic road wheels and a set of hunt gravel for off road. Some achievement to do it on the grabby tyres though, every time I see your Sonder I fall in love with the colour a little bit more just lovely to look at.

Great job! Was certainly hot this weekend. I managed my first road ride in almost 6 months on Saturday morning, but only a lowly 34 miles.

Good on yer 👍 100km is a good distance, and also imo a mental barrier. Once you've done it then longer rides seem possible.

I've been working up to my first 100 miler in a couple of years, which I did today over Exmoor.
In preparation I did a couple of 75km rides, a 90km, and then a 120km ride.

Even though 100 miles is 165km, it didn't seem too much of a stretch mentally.

Congrats. I've done a couple of 100km+ rides now. Kinda got my eye on a 100 mile day later this year.
I had a little triumph yesterday too, my first 1000m+ of elevation in a ride. Chose a torturous MTB route for it though & was properly broken afterwards 😊

You need to move somewhere hillier 😉 every ride from mine starts with a 200m climb.
Today's ride was 2900m. I'm pooped!

Do try and get your 100 miler in. One's first is a nice sense of achievement.
